GeoTrap Outhouse Filter

The GeoTrap Toilet Filter is designed for treating excess liquid from composting toilets. The filter uses GeoTrap Odour and Nutrient Scavenger mass, which efficiently binds nutrients from the leachate. The GeoTrap Toilet Filter is intended for purifying leachate from dry toilets. The GeoTrap Toilet Filter is a leachate filter whose operation is based on GeoTrap Odour and Nutrient Scavenger mass, which collects nutrients from the leachate. The purified leachate can be directed into the terrain. The GeoTrap Toilet Filter is an excellent accessory for all composting dry toilets.

Please note that the GeoTrap Toilet Filter is not suitable for treating urine from urine-diverting dry toilets; it is specifically a leachate filter for composting toilets. When using the Toilet Filter, ensure that the discharge hose does not lead into a water body (e.g., a pond, ditch, well), but into the terrain, preferably near the roots of large plants or trees.

INSTALLATION

The Toilet Filter can be connected to any non-urine-diverting composting toilet. The excess liquid outlet hose from the compost tank is connected to the GeoTrap filter so that the liquid can flow freely into the filter. If you are purchasing the filter for an existing toilet, check the diameter of its liquid hose. The outlet hose is included in the package.

You can dig a pit for the filter if you wish, but it can also be left entirely on the ground.

MAINTENANCE

For family use at a summer cottage, the GeoTrap mass is replaced once a year. In public places, maintenance should be performed 1-3 times a year, depending on use. The used mass can be added to compost, where it improves the structure and nutrient content of the compost. The mass can also be used directly as fertilizer for ornamental plants.

WINTER USE

If the dry toilet is not used in winter, the GeoTrap Toilet Filter can be left in place and allowed to freeze without breaking. In spring, the filter thaws, and use can continue directly, unless it's time to replace the mass.

However, if the toilet is used regularly even in winter, the Toilet Filter should be insulated on the sides and top with insulation boards. Insulating the liquid hose is not necessary, as it will drain empty of liquid anyway.
